Position Overview
We are seeking a Pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our collaborative team. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will help children develop essential skills in areas such as sensory processing, fine motor coordination, and daily living activities. While experience with feeding is not required, it is a valuable asset for those interested. The ideal candidate is creative, enthusiastic, and committed to providing family-centered care in a fun, engaging atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on therapy interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Implement individualized treatment plans targeting fine motor skills, sensory integration, and functional daily living tasks.
- Incorporate play-based strategies to keep children motivated and engaged.
- Communicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding patient progress, challenges, and modifications to the care plan.
- Coordinate with physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals for a multidisciplinary approach to care.
- Update parents/caregivers on each child’s progress, demonstrating home exercises and practical strategies to reinforce therapy goals.
- Offer empathetic support and address family questions or concerns.
- Accurately document therapy sessions, progress notes, and any changes in patient goals.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations, clinic policies, and professional standards.
- Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and mentorship opportunities.
- Remain informed about current best practices and emerging research in pediatric occupational therapy.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Active COTA license in California (or eligibility for licensure).
- Prior pediatric experience (clinical rotation, internship, or professional) is preferred.
- Feeding experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and families.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging, play-based interventions.

- Flexible Pay Rates
- In-clinic and Telehealth sessions are paid at a competitive base rate.
- In-home therapy commands a higher pay rate to account for travel and additional time requirements.
- Optional In-Home Services
- COTAs are not required to offer in-home therapy. However, in-home opportunities are available for those interested in diversifying their caseload and increasing their earning potential.
