Position Overview
We are seeking a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our collaborative team. Under the supervision of a licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will help provide direct therapy to children with various communication needs. You will have the opportunity to work in our outpatient clinic, via Telehealth, and optionally in-home—supporting our mission to deliver convenient, high-quality care for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Therapy Implementation:
- Provide speech and language therapy sessions under the guidance and supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Implement treatment goals, track progress, and maintain session notes.
- Collaboration & Team Support:
- Communicate regularly with supervising SLP regarding session outcomes, client progress, and any concerns.
- Coordinate with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other team members to deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Accurately record treatment data and keep updated therapy notes within the clinic’s documentation system.
- Adhere to all professional, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Family Interaction:
- Engage families with updates on session activities, home practice strategies, and progress.
- Provide a warm, supportive environment for children and caregivers alike.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in training opportunities and team meetings to enhance clinical skills.
- Stay informed about current best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
Qualifications
- Completed a state-approved SLPA program or have an associate’s degree (or higher) in speech-language pathology assisting.
- Active SLPA license in California (or in process if applicable).
Experience:
- Previous experience (including internships) working with children in a therapy, educational, or similar setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with play-based therapy approaches is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal skills with a caring, patient-centered approach.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of speech-language therapy practices and goals.

- Multiple Service Formats: Recess Pediatric Therapy offers out-patient clinic sessions, Telehealth services, and in-home therapy.
- Flexible Pay Rates:
- In-clinic and Telehealth sessions are paid at a competitive base rate.
- In-home therapy commands a higher pay rate to account for travel and additional time requirements.
- Optional In-Home Services: Therapists are not required to offer in-home therapy. However, in-home opportunities are available for those interested in diversifying their caseload and increasing their earning potential.
